POLLARD COLORS TRIUMPH CogAir Again Defeats Good Fair mount Park Sprinters Margaret Parker Hutucls Tny SSG8 When WhenShe She Vanquishes Field in Which Sambo G GAgain Again Is Disappointing Choice COLLINSVILLE 111 June G CogAir Mrs R Pollards consistent sprinter chalked up another victory today in the St Louis Independent Packing Company Purse which held the stellar position on the program at Fairmount Park W J Henflings False Pride offered the most resistance and fin ¬ ished second with the erratic Poppyfield third thirdThe The winner was held at prohibitive odds paying the smallest return of any winner at the current meeting meetingThe The weather had cleared before the first race and a bright sun was shining the heat being tempered by a chilly breeze that blew through the stands The racing was con ¬ ducted over a fast track trackIn In the feature CogAir was much the best Breaking on the front end Hanford allowed Poppyfield to set the pace with False Pride third On the turn into the stretch Poppy field went wide and the lead was assumed by False Pride with the ultimate winner dropping to third place When Hanford called on the Pollard colorbearer he merely galloped past the leader and went on to an easy victory four lengths being the margin at the end False Pride lasted to take the place while Poppyfield after being straight ¬ ened out came again and was eight lengths better than EloJse the fourth horse The others were never prominent at any stage of the race raceCHRIS CHRIS PASCHEN TO FOKE FOKEW W M Cains Chris Paschen proved too much for his opponents in the first race when he defeated Lady ONeil Hasty Girl and nine others of tne lower grade platers platersEphesian Ephesian Yalovian and Mosque grouped in the certificate field attracted much support but failed to race to expectations and it was difficult to determine which of the trio was the medium of the speculation Ephesian lost his rider soon after the start when he stum ¬ bled and Mosque and Yalovian were outrun throughout Afterglow which might have been a serious factor was practically left when he backed out of the stall as starter Wingfield dispatched the field fieldWatchword Watchword raced into command and opened up a good lead This he maintained until well into the stretch where Chris Paschen which had been moving up rapidly on the outside challenged and it was evident that the leader would succumb to the winner as he was tiring badly As he gave way Lady ONeil and Hasty Girl raced past him in the final stages of the race raceJockey Jockey J Ford who was astride Ephesian suffered a broken collar bone when his mount fell fellNervator Nervator carried the colors of J Gates to victory in the fiveeighths second race He was an easy winner after leading throughout Regular Feller was the one to get the place with Country Belle third Broad A was the chief offender in this when she failed to finish better than fifth after drawing the bulk of support However the winner came in for a heavy play Jockey J Cavens had Nervator away in good shape and soon sent him into the lead closely followed by Coun ¬ try Belle but Regular Feller supplanted her as the runnerup as they rounded the stretch turn and the first three had the race between them after they turned for home homeOUTSIDER OUTSIDER StmriUSES StmriUSESMargaret Margaret Parker a rank outsider in the speculation upset the calculations in the threequarters third race when she won the honors over Scotland Girl which was second and Orestes II third In accomplishing her victory the daughter of Peter Quince gradu ¬ ated from the maiden class Her perform ¬ ance was a good one Although she had shown abundant speed in all her starts she was neglected so badly in the betting that the usual 2 investment brought a return of 8868 8868Again Again E K Brysons Sanibo G was in ¬ stalled favorite and as in his previous races in which he failed to vindicate the batting judgment of his supporters he raced dis ¬ mally to finish seventh in the field of nine Scotland Girl might have been a more stub ¬ born contender with a more capable ride but jockey C Edwards who had the mount allowed her to drop out of contention and when he put her to a drive she responded gamely to get up in time for the place placeSome Some of the better grade distance platers contested in the mile and seventy yards fourth race with W P Gaines Calome racing as if much the best to lead home Sterling Silver by five lengths Third place went to the Missouri Stables Celtic Prince The failure of Brown Thistle and Earl of War ¬ wick to be serious contenders during the running was a decided shock to the form players and completed the overthrow of the first four favorites
