LADIES DAY AT RIVERSIDE Races Over Shorter Distances DistancesPredominate Predominate on Program Rain RainThreatens Threatens Throughout Day KANSAS CITY Mo June 6 A good pro ¬ gram of seven races the majority of the races for sprinters was todays offering at Riverside Park The usual crowd was greatly increased by a large turnout of the fair sex it being Ladies Day The races were de ¬ cided over a fast track but the skies were overcast with clouds and rain threatened most of the afternoon afternoonMaiden Maiden twoyearold fillies started the days program when eight paraded to the post for the first race an allowance affair over the four furlongs route Fair Air a brown filly by Air Man Fanny Naill racing in the colors of Shipp Macken local owners and making her first start furnished an upset when she led home the favorite Heelantoe from the stable of C Rumage H Torrientes Belial finishing fast in the stretch took the short end of the purse from Atwells Yo Yo The winner showed the most speed and after assuming the lead drew away and at the end had a margin of two lengths over Heelantoe with the latter having a four lengths advan ¬ tage over Belial which was just a head in the van of Yo Yo YoOneEyed OneEyed Connolly famous gate crasher who crashed his way into Kansas City as a stowaway aboard the Western Air Express plane which landed from Dallas was a vis ¬ itor at the track this afternoon and attracted much attention attentionA A thrilling finish resulted in the second race when the trio raced through the stretch heads apart and at the end it was Mrs H Doughertys Molokai that proved the gamest with Alice Hughes outlasting Little Cook by a neck for second place Ten went to the post for the race which called for the cheaper grade to race over the five and one half furlongs distance Little Cook was the first to show closely followed by Alice Hughes with the ultimate winner in third place This order was maintained to the lower turn where Alice Hughes forged to the front with Molokai moving up fast be ¬ tween Alice Hughes and Little Cook The three entered the stretch heads apart with the remainder of the field well strung out Molokai under a good ride by R Riley man ¬ aged to get his nose in front in the last few strides to gain the victory Little Cook was coming again after dropping back slightly and was wearing Alice Hughes down Ihla a firsttime starter showed brief early speed
