MARINE IS EASY WINNER With Crushing Impost He Makes Show of Connaught Field Son of iJFan o War Leads Black Cloud by Four Lengths Sanford Stable Scores in Two Races OTTAWA OnL June 7 The Mount Royal Stable furnished the winner of the Lord Willingdon Cup Handicap the big feature for today at Connaught Park when Marine the magnificent son of Man o War Damaris II made a show of the opponents that he encountered in the mile and seventy yards race and which was the fifth offering of the day It was Black Cloud which races for Harry C Hatch that followed the winner home meeting defeat by four lengths Third was the portion for Mart Malone of the Highland Stable with M B Pierces Tall Grass and Mrs W Wicks Tasman follow ¬ ing ingMarine Marine though burdened with a crushing impost was forced into prohibitive fa ¬ voritism voritismThe The Lord Willingdon Handicap and six other attractions drew one of the largest gatherings in several years to Connaught Park Following the running of the feature Kenneth Dawes part owner of the Mount Royal Stable was presented with a hand come trophy by Miss Beatrice Belcourt who made the presentation on behalf of their ex ¬ cellencies Lord and Lady Willingdon who were unable to be present presentThe The Mount Royal Stable supplied the win ¬ ner of the introductory race when Lovey Girl ridden in capable fashion by F Slate was able to lead throughout the short dash to register in a drive scoring by a neck from General Toy with third going to Ethel Ken yon when she retained a wide margin over One Grand and Dixie Bo BoAlans Alans Bay from the E F Sanford barn turned in another winning effort for that establishment when he led the way in the sec ¬ ond race This brought a field of ten into action and the winner was second in demand to Supawna H W Fryes Lassa was sec ¬ ond meeting defeat by a length and onehalf and Jane Rinehart landed third for E A Raymond with the favored Supawna next in line lineGreat Great Rock made good at the first ask ¬ ing for J Bedame who claimed him out of his last race He scored easily over the seven other platers that opposed him in the one mile third race Great Rock as usual was on his bad behavior on the way to the post but when they reached the barrier Palmer caught the field in good alignment after a minutes delay Dolly Seth soon dashed into command while Great Rock was gradu ¬ ally bettering his position on the outside When the stretch was reached it was still Dolly Seth that showed the way Great Rock was right along with her and in the final furlong easily drew out to win with consum ¬ mate ease Dolly Seth easily held on to second place with Fair Gold third two lengths back backA A double triumph for the E F Sanford stable was registered when Pygmalion in a stoutly fought finish was up in the last strides of the third event to get a nose decision over Retainer from the Riverdale Stable W G Campbells Ace of Aces II an outsider was third Pymgalion was the the choice and was ridden by E Fator FatorAnother Another favorite made good when Guy Frazier proved best of a bulky and erratic field that made up the six furlongs of the fourth number A delay of ten minutes was occasioned before a start could be effected and Guy Frazier made the running through ¬ out to be winner by a length from Dick Whittington Joe McCord finished third an ¬ other length away F Kiniry was astride the winner and the victory was one of the most popular of the afternoon afternoonKenneth Kenneth Dawes journeyed over from Mon ¬ treal to witness the race of Marine in the Lord Willingdon Cup
