RUSH OF RESERVATIONS FOR AMERICAN DERBY The deep interest as shown in the reserva ¬ tion of boxes and advance sale of seats es ¬ tablishes that the American Derby having a gross value of 04225 will attract nation ¬ wide attention With the date of its running at Washington Park next Saturday the rush for seats is greater than has ever been known fixtureFred in the history of this turf fixture Fred Kremer who has charge of the sale at the downtown office of the Washington Park Jockey Club in the Congress Bank Building Wabash Avenue and Congress Street reports that the sale to out of town patrons is re ¬ markable The largest block of reservations has been made by the Chicago Alton Rail ¬ road Company for parties in St Louis All railroads will run excursions from the prin ¬ cipal cities for the American Derby Charles H Haggerty of Louisville will run two trains from that city Many reservations have been made by New Yorkers among the number being several social leaders C W Hay general manager of Washington Park has arranged with the Illinois Central Railroad Company to begin its special service on Derby Day at 11 oclock in the morning Thereafter every ten minutes until 1 30 oclock that afternoon electrified trains will convey passengers to the race course in thirty minutes By reason of past experience general manager Hay advises the public to use the trains thus avoiding highway con ¬ gestion He thinks at least 75000 persons will attend the running of the Derby
