CAPITOL, outrun early, was taken to the outside on the stretch turn and finished very fast to wear down the tiring leaders in the last sixteenth and was up right at the end. SUN MAN tired after challenging inside the sixteenth post. CANDY MAN, quick to find his stride, went to the the front with a rush and showed a lot of speed to the eighth post, where he tired. SERGEANT MAJOR and SABANA tired in the final fifty yards. BILL NORA began well, but immediately dropped back and. moving up again, finished gamely. SHEILA WOOD responded well under urging. IRISH PEARL tired badly in the last eighth. ELEUSAGON, a contender throughout, fought it out with SARATOGA MAJE. but tired. SARATOGA MAJE. hustled along from the start, was never given a breathing spell and tired. ICHITARO saved ground on the stretch turn and was a factor at the eighth post, then tired badly and was eased up. MERIDIAN QUEEN, a factor from the start, responded boldly when put to a drive in the stretch, wore down NOAJOYCE and outeamed BLIMP in the final drive. BLIMP saved ground on the stretch turn, then tired after disposing of BUBBLING OUT and NOAJOYCE in the last eighth. EAGER PLAY began very slowly, but closed a bie gap and finished fast. TORCH, slow to begin, closed a big gap and finished with a rush and was going much the fastest of all. POLITEN was rushed up to the leader on the back stretch, then quit after five-eighths. PLAYABIT, away fast, took up the pacemaking after the first quarter, was rated in front to the stretch, but had to be hard ridden to withstand the challenge of ELIZABETH. The latter, slow to get going, moved up fast after half a mile and, closing well, just failed to get up. FLYING ZENO, restrained early, closed fast, but could not get up.
