Band Time took the lead at once, with Easter Time second and Anthony Wayne, Prince Hotspur and Tellico in close attendance. Band Time continued to lead to the stretch turn, while Tellico lost all chance at this juncture when he was carried wide by Eas-f ter Time, allowing the ultimate winner to increase his lead. Anthony Wayne moved into second place when straightened out in the stretch, with Prince Hotspur third, and the latter gained the second award when outfinished the Collins and Hardy racer. A full field of frisky colts and geldings went to the post in the first race and the start was delayed for many minutes while several acted badly at the barrier. Bour-bonite and Elkhart, the two that were most heavily backed, finished first and third respectively, while Essential, an outsider got second money. Coletown outbroke the others set the pace, but when he went wide at stretch turn Bourbonite, which had been close pursuit, took command and held sway to the end, with Essential coming fast outgame Elkhart. The race was run over heavy track. FAST FINISH BRINGS VICTORY. A strong stretch rush brought victory to It in the second race.
