i 1 | ! i 1 SWEEP ALL WINS AGAIN « Dixiana Colt Easily Defeats Oswego by a Length. ♦ Insco Breaks Down During Running of Shore Acres Purse at Washington Park Course. ♦ • HOMEWOOD. 111., June 12.— Sweep All, the good Dixiana colt, came through with another victory when he won the Shore Acres, headline attraction at Washington Park this afternoon. Given a confident ride by jockey Earl Pool, he got to the front in the stretch and won by more than a length from Oswego, with Sunny Lassie third. The bulk of the money wagered on the race was carried by Sweep All and Oswego, ! and both came from behind to show excellent performances. Prince DAmour was quickest to begin and with Martha Jones in close attendance set a good pace. Sweep All ! and Oswego were racing a few lengths back under restraint. When the last quarter was ! reached the favorites made their moves and the early leaders were passed after the field had made the stretch turn. Sweep All, saving ground, opened up a handy lead in [ the final eighth, and although Oswego staged a game finish he did not threaten ! seriously. Sunny Lassie showed a good effort. She raced wide most of the way but easily bested Prince DAmour, which finished fourth. THROUGH WITH RACING. Insco, the highly regarded son of Sir Galla-had - III., broke down during the race. He S hobbled off the track and across the center f field and will be unable to face the barrier r for some time, if ever. The attendance was good again this afternoon, - and a well balanced program was offered. - Although the weather was cloudy, the 2 track remained fast during the day. and the public was fairly successful in locating $ the winners. Jockey Jimmy Smith, restored to good i standing after a ten-day suspension, staged i an auspicious come-back when he rode B Shiva to victory in the opener. The son of f Chilhowee— Billy Dove was facing the barrier - for the second time and was much i the best. He took the lead after going a i quarter, and was never in serious danger. •. Second money went to Strathcona, while e Cerveza, making his debut in the colors of f J. Whittingham, former jockey, was third. L Shiva is owned by the Nevada Stock Farm. u Martie Flynn, making his first start since e last fall, carried the colors of Stuyvesant t Peabody. The weak-limbed - gelding staged a game effort to o earn a head decision over Gracious Gift, ;, with Gerard, the favorite, finishing third. I. Martie Flynn, hard ridden in the last quarter, - responded gamely to punishment to o take the lead an eighth out. and lasted to o win. Gracious Gift was going fast at the e finish, while Crofton and Jack Howe, the early pacemakers, tired. On the strength i of recent good workouts Martie Flynn had i a large following and paid 0.24. AT SUNRISE AGAIN. At Sunrise, the consistent filly, which races for John F. Schorr, registered another win when she defeated a small band of her r own age and sex in the third race, an allowance affair. Although in close quarters in the early racing when she was unable to 0 outrun Vixen Lassie, she managed to retain 1 a prominent position and, getting to the e lead rounding the stretch turn, showed the 1 way to the end. Marcasite, slipping through 1 on the inside during the final eighth, was s second and Princess Camelia, racing coupled i with Princess Nancy as the Leiter entry, was s third. The winner was an overwhelming ? favorite and paid less than even money. Jockey L. McDermott piloted his first t winner in some time when he rode Dark k Entry in the fourth race. The Headley gelding led throughout, and was a length in n advance of Elysium when the race ended. L Third money went to Port Harlem, the favorite, while Moderation, an outsider, showed 1 good form to be a close-up fourth.
