HOMEWOOD, 111., June 12.— The Mongol, chief reliance of the Madden Brothers, own- s ers of Hamburg Place, for the 0,000 added c American Derby to be renewed at Washing- t ton Park next Saturday, gave evidence of his readiness for that one mile and a quarter t test when he worked one mile and a furlong t in 1:56%, very handily, over the Lincoln c Fields track this morning. The son of Sir j Martin and Yellow Jacket ran the half mile t in :494/t, three-quarters in 1:15% and the y mile in 1:43. He was under steady restraint a from start to finish. d Spanish Play, Pittsburgher and Knights ■ Call, American Derby candidates, raced * Thursday and were reported in good con- r dition this morning, and the trio will be ■ among the starters in the coming fixture. ■ Preparations for the unloading and stabling of A. C. Bostwicks Mate and W. J. Salmons Ladder, crack eastern derby colts, due at Washington Park from Belmont I of Park Monday, were completed today. The Salmon colt and the dozen or so of . his stable companions coming to the Home- . wood course with him will be quartered in -the Stuyvesant Peabody barn, and Mate is to be stabled in the Dixiana barn, which c harbors Sweep All, one of the best of the western candidates for the Washington Park Stake, and second to Twenty Grand in the Kentucky Derby.
