PLATERS MONOPOLIZE CARD 1 ♦ Ladies Day Results in Weeks » Largest Crowd at Bainbridge. ♦ Lanier Accounts for Best Race of Day — - Little Toots Displays Sudden Improvement in Fourth. » CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 12.— A series of f claiming races made up the card at Bainbridge l" Park this afternoon, all of which attracted - large and evenly matched fields. , Interest centered in the outcome of the fifth race, exclusively for three-year-olds, over T. one mile. The fractious actions of several I starters caused a tedious post delay of almost ten minutes, and when the start came r Dr. Louis Hamman took com xnd, with Lanier and Miss Sue following. After making the far turn, the Schaefer r colorbearer, Lanier, took the lead and drew J away decisively in the stretch. Crowned Head raced up into a contending position while on the turn for home and easily disposed !" of the remainder for second place in n the last sixteenth. Santon and Nervator r both gained much ground, and in the final drive Santon barely lasted to save third ? by a nose from Nervator. The others tired after reaching the stretch, Miss Sue particularly. The most favorable conditions of the week prevailed, and the attendance was the J largest of the week due to the large turnout of the fair sex. It was Ladies Day. The e racing was interesting, although the close e finishes which were so much in evidence e yesterday were conspicuous by their absence e this afternoon. Little Toots displayed sudden improvement over her last performance here, and after leaving the back stretch outran her r opponents to score an easy victory in the e fourth race. Mary Cobb and Alamae were * factors from the start, and Mary Cobb had the most in reserve to secure second place * from the early leader. The trio dominated the race throughout. Starting for the first time at this course, ;• jut coming well recommended from the half-mile f tracks, where he met with much success, Great Artist was installed a pronounced " favorite in the second race. He e made good in no uncertain manner in leading " by a rather comfortable margin at all J stages and scoring handily. The Padre raced J up to the winner on the turn for home, but * tired near the end and was outgamed by y Tyrol for second place. Shift was gaining | resolutely on the inside in the stretch, but * failed to find an opening during the final r furlong when gaining on the leaders. He e finished fourth. Making his debut at this meeting, Mrs. 3- W. J. Potters Genuine found himself in n more modest company than ever before in J the initial race. He quickly raced Red P Grange into submission and, after leaving 8" the back stretch was always in command ■ of the situation. Miss Onine, by saving Jt ground on the turn for home, continued d gamely next to the inner rail and outlasted * Dodie Leighton for the second portion of if the purse after the latter had shown a a creditable effort. Never far from the leaders, Runaway Kid d closed up gamely in the stretch, and under ,r pressure, drew away into a clear lead in the e last seventy yards of the second race. It marked his maiden victory, which was something B- of a surprise. He was not highly regarded ► by the players, and returned the e largest dividend here in some time. Thistle le Lass, a factor from the start, saved second d in a drive with the fast finishing Crescent City. Tiempo, the favorite, tired after racing g prominently until midway in the stretch. a. The time for the four and a half furlongs, s, :54, established a new track record. ,
