— ■ T" ARLINGTON PARK NOTES f ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, June 26. Epithet, readying up for the Arlington Inaugural Handicap, seven furlongs, in which he is to pack 113 pounds Monday, breezed three-quarters of a mile in 1:18% at Arlington Park today. He cooled out nicely and his trainer, Jack Middleton, expressed perfect satisfaction with his condition. High Foot, another masculine Inaugural prospect, was on the track, but only for a blowout of a quarter of a mile. He will do his fact work today. Possibly he does not need much. Within the week he has turned three-quarters in better than 1:12. Sunny Lassie, Mrs. William Zieglers Inaugural, Arlington Oaks and Arlington Matron candidate and one of the most promising three-year-old fillies in the country, turned seven furlongs in 1:28%. Unless Phillips changes his mind, Sunny Lassie will start in the Inaugural. Her stable companion, the four-year-old Spinach, breezed three furlongs in :36%. Spinach is not in the Inaugural. He is pointing for the Stars and Stripes Handicap, one mile and a furlong, which will be run Saturday, July 4. Gone Away, another member of the Ziegler stable, revealed higher speed in a breather of three furlongs— :35%. Gone Away is another Stars and Stripes prospect. Sun Beau, Arlington Handicap and Arlington Cup candidate of the stable of Willis Sharpe Kilmer, turned three furlongs in :38. His stable companions, Dark Seeker and Dark Magnet, worked three furlongs in :36% together. Valenciennes of the Hertz string, winner of last years Arlington Matron Handicap and a candidate for the coming revival of the same dash of one mile, for which mares three years old and over will be eligible, July 22, also for the Arlington and Stars and Stripes Handicaps and the Arlington Cup, turned an easy half in :50 flat. His Last, an untried three-year-old of the Hertz string, a son of Luke McLuke and Oubliette, turned a smart half in :49 seconds breezing just after Herbert Bayard Swopes Seb had stepped the same distance under young Earl Steffen in :48%. Tellicos 1:00% for five furlongs was the smartest work done by a two-year-old. Tellico is now the sole property of Charles C. Van Meter. Roy Carruthers, general manager of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, sold his interest to Van Meter the other day, also, his half of Sophist, another likely two-year-old. Florida Bunting, a Warm Stable Post and Paddock hope, galloped five furlongs in 1:02%. Silver Lace, Gallaher and Combs Arlington Oaks candidate, turned three-quarters of a mile in 1:19%. The veteran Calf Roper, which has been winning right along this season, galloped six furlongs in 1:15%. A three-year-old called Cagliastro turned a half in :49%, old Peter Peter did five furlongs in 1:02%. Other guests of the Arlington Park Jockey Club July 4 will be Gov. Louis L. Emmerson and Lieutenant-Governor Sterling of Illinois, and Mayor Anton Cermak of Chicago. Governor Emmerson and Mayor Cermak expect to bring official guests from other states and cities.
