COLONO, away in the first flight, gained stoutly after leaving the back stretch and, wearing down ABITIBI, moved clear steadily in the last eighth. ABITIBI went into a good early lead, was shaken up when challenged and held on gamely. BEDFORD BOY, rated close up, closed courageously on the outside. POST-VILLE finished resolutely on the inside. FAIR JACK, quickest to get going, sprinted into an easy lead, withstood contention from TOKI and held MINTMAGI safe. The latter, prominent from the start, closed gamely under punishment, but could not get up. TOKI showed good early speed, then tired. BLACK AND BLUE lacked early speed, but closed a. gap near the end. TEWSENELDA raced well. BABBLE finished fast. POLYFON had no excuses. FLY-ACROSS was worked out an extra eighth. DARK MISSION, following close to the leaders, went to the outside when moving into the stretch, took command in the last eighth and won with speed to spare. CHILE GOLD, hard ridden from the start, saved ground and continued gamely to outlast BlLL NORA. The latter, racing in good form and close to CHILE GOLD for the first half, tired in the last sixteenth. JAFFA was close up in the first eighth, but was unable to stay with the leaders. DARK VISION did not appear to fancy the going. BLANKET BAY began green, but snowed good speed after settling into her best stride. Scratched — Rubridge, 110. • Overweight — Jaffa, 3£ pounds. The latter, an early trailer, worked his way up with a rush. FLYING ZENO was unable to threaten, the leaders. BALTHASAR i raced evenly throughout SINGLE SEA and MOON PHASE quit. The latter dropped far back early, then settled into his best stride and finished gamely. MARSALA displaced SOMETIME without effort, gained a good lead, but tired badlv in the final quarter. UPPITY, avoiding interference going to the first turn, took a brief lead when reaching the back stretch, was rated under mild urging and, holding on stoutly in the final drive, had enough left to withstand SAM PASS. The latter improved his position steadily when put to a drive and was wearing the winner down gradually. PALS MEADOWS forced a good early pace and held on well in the closing drive. OLD TIMES was going stoutly at the end. TRANSLUCENT, in a bad jam at the first turn, closed a good gap. NAUGHTY NAUGHTY had no excuses. STAR RUN was in trouble going to the first turn.
