WHATAMAN, always close up, wore down MEADOW KING in the stretch and won easily. The latter opened up a long lead near the stretch turn, but tired, badly. DON JR., away slowly, closed a big gap. PRIDE OF TEXAS showed a fair performance. RED CACTUS closed a gap. FOR ME was in close quarters when tiring in the stretch. ENGINEER DAY acted badly at the barrier, but showed speed. SOLO raced fairly well. BONNIE BETTY, rushed into the lead on the first turn, had nothing left for the final drive. MALOVER quit badly.
