GLENSIDE began rapidly and, favoring the going, set a fast pace and drew clear on the stretch, winning under light restraint. ANGRY TLUME, slow to get going, gradually improved her position on the outside, then shook off BATTY in the final drive. BATTY, hard urged throughout, raced evenly, but tired in the . stretch as if short. FERVID moved up on the inside on the turn, but was blocked by CHARLIE and could not recover. COMSTOCKERY moved up steadily on the back stretch, saved the most ground and, responding gamely in the final drive, outlasted VANDER POOL. The latter took command at his leisure in the first quarter, then, rated in front on the turn, changed stride entering the stretch, but could not withstand the challenge of the winner. KINCSEN, far back early, closed fast in the final quarter and was fast wearing down the leaders at the end.
