W. R. COE HORSES SHIP WELL Reach Belmont Park From Kentucky Farm in Good Condition Bed of Roses Foals Colt. LEXINGTON, Ky., March 4. Hugh Fontaine, manager of W. R. Coes Shoshone Stud, is back at the farm after a visit to New York. He reports that the horses shipped to Belmont Park from the farm, arrived in good shape and that trainer Benny Creech has begun their active training. The two-year-olds were kept going here through the last sixty days, but the three-year-olds did not have any gallops during the winter. Jockey Elmo Shropshire accompanied the horses and will do much of the riding for the stable -this year. He is not under contract to Mr. Coe, but is employed on a monthly basis. Olin Gentry, assistant to manager Barry Shannon, reports the birth of an own brother to Buddy Bauer and half-brother to Bagenbaggage at Idle Hour Farm. The former is a chestnut colt by North Star in. Bed of Roses, and the latter is a chestnut colt by Epinard Blushing Beauty. Otto Lehmann, president of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, Chicago, has arrived for his annual spring visit to the breeding establishment in the Blue Grass and expects to be here about a week. Jockey Mack Garner arrived from Miami and reported to trainer Henry McDaniel at Joseph E. Wideners Elmendorf Farm. It will require four cars to transport the Widener horses to Belmont Park, and plans are being made for their movement from here about March 10. If a sufficient number can be found to fill another car to be shipped under direction of Dick Wilson, a special, train can be arranged. Information from Walter Gentry is to the effect that he has resigned as manager of Stadacona Farm, Glyndon, Md., and will be at liberty after March 15. He is a brother of Lloyd, Olin, Charles and Raymond Gentry, all of whom are expert horsemen. Horace N. Davis reports that Mrs. L. G. Kaufmans Kippy, dam of Sortie and Tick On, has a bay or brown colt by Twink, at his Blue Grass Heights Farm. The mare is to be mated with On Watch this season. At the same farm, Pavia has a bay colt by Justice F. This youngster and his dam are the property of George Read, superintendent of Tropical Park.
