f RULED OFF THE TURF ? o $ NEW ORLEANS, La., March 4. While on his way to the jockey quarters after the fourth race Thursday, in which he rode Crowned Head to victory and a claim of foul by J. Guerra, who had the mount on Transformation, which finished second, was not allowed, jockey James McCoy was assaulted by M. Schwartz, owner of Transformation. Police grabbed Schwartz as he pummelled McCoy, who did not attempt to defend himself; For the attack, Schwartz was ruled off the turf by stewards J. B. Campbell and Chris. FitzGerald. Jockey Guerra, who contributed to the disturbance, but did not participate in the attack upon McCoy, was suspended for the remainder of the meeting.
