ERVAST IN BIG HANDICAP AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, March 4. Ervast will make a bid for the Agua Caliente Handicap. Walter Fenwick sent the big San Diego gelding a mile and one furlong Thursday in preparation for the race on March 20. He worked as follows: :24, :49, 1:13, 1:40, 1:53. Ervast had 120 pounds up. Frank Coltiletti was in the saddle. Col-tiletti will ride Ervast in the stake with 107 pounds. Alexander Pantages also worked Thursday. Five-eighths in 1:01 pulled up, three-quarters in 1:14. Trainer Bill Finne-gan stated he will go to the post next Sunday. He believes the horse will be in excellent shape for the Agua Caliente Handicap, for which he is a nominee.
