BAD NEWS, taken into the lead, set the early pace under light restraint, responded to brisk pressure In the stretch and, shaking off MASTER McGEE, outlasted TIEDEMANN. The latter, a strong factor from the start and restrained for three-quarters, responded to hard urging and, while closing ground gradually in the stretch, could not get up. MASTER McGEE showed speed, saved ground throughout and tired after rallying mildly entering the stretch. RICCIARDO could not get up. KIMBALTON had no mishaps. VILLAGE VAMP began poorly. GLEN LAD was cut down shortly after the start. BOBBY POWERS showed speed, was much used racing OUTCRY into defeat, but outlasted MAI SAN. The latter, away slowly and under vigorous urging, improved her position fast on the second turn and, but for swerving in the stretch, might have, been second. ED REESE tired after moving up on the stretch turn. OUTCRY showed speed. BOB KERNAN began well, but was through after reaching the final three-eighths.
