DR. FREELANDS PRICE COT Now Joint Favorite With Phar Lap for Agua Caliente Handicap After Sensational Gallop. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, March 9. Dr. Freeland, the big horse from the stable of Benny Creech, displayed remarkable speed at the Agua Caliente track in a workout this morning, and as a result is now split favorite in the Agua Caliente future book. Coming on the track in the wee small hours ready to do some running, Dr. Free-land turned in the fastest five furlongs work ever recorded at the Lower California course when he covered the distance in :58. Given his head early, Dr. Freeland went the three furlongs in :34, the half mile in :45 and finished out in :58". It was a truly impressive move and resulted in his price dropping from 4 to 1 to 3 to 1 in the future book. To balance the line, Zeke Caress boosted Joe Flores from 3 to 1 to 4 to 1, while Phar Lap remains at 3 to 1. Marine was another Agua Caliente eligible that impressed watch holders. With Frankie Mann, recently arrived from Canada, in the saddle, he went one and one-quarter miles in 2:09 easily.
