FRETWORK, away forwardly and quickest to get going, drew clear in the first eighth and was never menaced thereafter. WHIRLING, hard urged and closest to the leader throughout, easily held the others safe in the stretch: JACKKNIFE gained fast on the stretch turn, then tired in the final drive, but outlasted STRAIT JACKET. The latter, forced wide on the turn, finished gamely. IREDELL was pinched back at the start, but closed resolutely. LE BRUYERE, forced very wide in the first quarter, was not persevered with in the stretch. GERTIE R. and MIKE REYNOLDS showed early speed then quit in the last eighth. CAERLEON outclassed the others but began green, soon settled into his stride and, showing good speed, took command in the first quarter and, increasing his lead, won with speed to spare. SANCROFT, slow to get going, improved his position on the inside, responded gamely in the final drive and outlasted STRATEGY. The latter, buffeted about early, closed a big gap in the final quarter. The latter, slow to settle into her stride, worked her way up on the rail and, challenging gamely, could not overtake the winner. ALLENS rushed to the front, set a fast pace for half a mile, then, hard urged, held the others safe. FAUQUIERS PRIDE raced evenly. MAE SWEEP forced a rapid early pace, raced THE HEATHEN into defeat on the stretch turn, took a short load entering the stretch, but could not keep stride with the winner. HARRY HIEOVER improved his position, Wore down THE HEATHEN in the last strides, but could not overhaul the winner. THE HEATHEN tired after showing speed for five-eighths. INFERNO LAD held on well. IRON CZAR showed good speed while forcing the early pace, raced PHANTOM ROCK into defeat in the first three-quarters and, drawing clear in the stretch, could not withstand the challenge of the winner. PHANTOM ROCK began fast, was steadied in front, but tired.- RU-BRIDGE, prominent throughout, held on resolutely. CHIEFS TROUBADOUR tired in-the final quarter. fiQEfcO SIXTH RACE 1 Mile.
