! PHAR LAPS PRICE 3 TO 2 Antipodean Star Now Strong1 Favorite for Sundays Rich Race .Spanish Play 3 to 1. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, March 17. Phar Lap is now 3 to 2 to win the Agua Caliente Handicap, and, with money still coming in, it is likely to be even money before Sunday. Another large commission was received on the Anzac star by Zeke Caress this morning and his price was lowered from 2 to 1. Cabezo, split choice with Phar Lap, was second choice Thursday, at 2 to 1, while Spanish Play was regarded as third best, with 3 to 1 chalked against his name. Confidence is the keynote in Phar Laps camp and the Australian big four, D. J. Davis, Treve Woodcock, Bill Elliott and H. A. Wolfe, all predict an easy victory for the son of Night Raid. When asked his opinion of the other animals in the Handicap, all of which, with the exception of Spanish Play, he has seen perform, Wolfe remarked: "I do not think any of the horses that I have seen in action at Agua Caliente can make Phar Lap extend himself. Spanish Play, which I have not seen, is undoubtedly a good horse and I look for him tghave the closest view of Phar Laps tail at the finish." Jockey Billy Elliott, who rode Good and Hot to second place behind Cabezo in the Montague Handicap last Sunday, has stated that Phar Lap is a greatly superior horse to that animal and could probably beat him a sixteenth of a mile at the Handicap distance. Cabezo defeated Good and Hot by two lengths. D. J. Davis displayed his confidence by digging down deep to uncover a huge bank roll to wager on his animal, while taciturn Treve Woodcock flashes a knowing smile when questioned regarding the animals chances. Should Phar Lap win the race he will likely be shipped direct to Washington Park, Chicago, to await the opening of the meeting at that point. He is not likely to be seen in action at Tanforan. Some other changes were noted in the Agua Caliente future book this morning. Marine, whose price has been mounting steadily, is now 15 to 1, while Seths Hope is the same price. Scimitar has been dropped to 10 to 1, while Nacho has been boosted from 50 to 100 to 1. Lucky Tom, on whom many wagered when the rumor was circulated that he would come West for the race, is now 100 to 1.
