PRINCETON, in close quarters on the inside until midway around the turn, came through entering the stretch and, responding well, outlasted the others in the final drive. CHATTAHOOCHEE, prominent throughout, closed gamely and was wearing down the winner. BARN DANCE showed early speed, saved ground in ihe stretch, then tired. RELATIVE, racing green and on the inside for half a mile, suffered repeated interference, went around the others in the final eighth and, closing rapidly, would have won in a few more strides. BOB BLACKBURN, compelled to race wide throughout, was unable to improve his position. THE HEATHEN, away forwardly, followed close to the leaders under restraint until straightened out in the stretch, then closed gamely and wore down NOAJOYCE to win going away. CAPTAIN ED began alertly, improved his position on the outside and outgamed NOAJOYCE. The latter began fast from outside the machine, forced a rapid early pace and raced JACK HOWE into . defeat in the first half mile, then drew clear in the stretch, but tired badly. DONNY JOHNNY finished resolutely. JACK HOWE was eased up in the stretch. The last four horses at the start had no chance with the break. Scratched 69155 Fair Blanche, 92; 69332 Distant Drum, 96. PANCHO LOPEZ showed early speed, opened up a good lead in the first half mile, continued gamely when challenged and held DYAK safe in the final drive. DYAK came through on the inside on the turn, went to the outside of the leader entering the stretch, challenged gamely, but tired. PLAYFOLE began well and improved her position on the outside on the turn and wore down MY PURCHASE in the closing strides. The latter, prominent throughout, tired under punishment in the final eighth. NEWGRO began slowly, but moved up with a rush on the back stretch, but tired after half a mile, BAY ANGON, hard urged, could not get up. JAMBALAYA showed a dull performance. SLAPSTICK, away well, moved up on the outside on the turn, continued gamely through the stretch under a hand ride and outlasted MEANY. The latter began alertly and raced WHIRLING into early defeat, took a short lead on the stretch turn, saved ground, but was unable to withstand the challenge of the winner. Riley lodged a claim for foul, stating Hanford rode him close, through the stretch, but the claim was disallowed. IPRAL began slowly in close quarters, improved his position steadily in the last quarter and outlasted CHUCK B. The latter came through, but tired as if short. LADY MOON could not get up. LINE OF FIRE, crowded back entering the back stretch, came through on the inside and easily disposed of GLENSIDE in the stretch. KENSINGTON and FELAXE quit badly in the last eighth. VACATION came through on the lower turn, finished gamely, but wa blocked near the end. MIKE CAREY tired after a mile, as did BOZO.
