DELIVERED DISPLAYS SPEED Works Six Furlongs at Churchill Downs in 1:17 Epidemic Works Same Distance. LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 26. Delivered, owned by W. F. Knebelkamp, turned in the best six-furlong work of the present training season for Derby candidates when he ran the distance in 1:17, over the track at Churchill Downs this morning. Carl Shea had the mount on the gelding and rated him perfectly for the first five furlongs in the fractional time of :24, :35, :49 and 1:02; after which he was eased up for the remainder .i. the distance. Hunt worked Delivered about six a. m., due to a threat of rain in the air and later there was a light sprinkle but the Downs course is in perfect condition. W. Wilkerson, Jr., gave a six furlongs workout to his Derby charge, Epidemic, Friday, the final time for his effort being 1:19. Trainer W. H. Buckner sent Oscillation, the Longridge Stables Derby and Oaks candidate, one mile over the Douglas Park oval Friday in 1:50. Other Derby candidates were given long canters and gallops in preparation for more ambitious moves on Sunday and Monday. Shirley Ward, trainer of the Ward and Burton stable, which has the Derby colt, Dyak at the Downs, drove up from Miami by automobile and left his father, John S. Ward at Lexington Friday, continuing on to Louisville.
