LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 16.— This is "getaway" week at Churchill Downs and, with the close of the nineteen-day spring meeting Saturday, a big majority of the leading Kentucky and western stables will take up further campaigning and operations at Washington Park, the near-Chicago course of the Washington Park Jockey Club. Racing at Washington Park during the season of thirty days, opening next Monday, will be a continuation of the high quality sport offered at Churchill Downs with the horses of a number of prominent Eastern stables thrown in. The first of the larger stables to reach Washington Park unloaded there last week when Kay Spence shipped in thirty of the Audley Farm horses. Others, too, have reached the scene of Chicagos first "big time" meetings of the new season and before | the week is out, activity will closely ap- proach mid-season volume. E. L. Fitzgerald, with the main division of N. W. Churchs Northway Stable, pulled up stakes here this evening, shipping eight head to the Homewood track. Tomorrow, other of the Northway horses raced at Tan-foran are due at Washington Park. The division shipped from here was headed by the three-year-old Gallant Sir, and the older Plucky Play. Fitzgerald sent the three-year- old filly Miss Morocco to Claiborne Farm, where she will be turned out. Clyde Van Dusen, with Charles T. Fishers Dixiana Stable and J. H. Moody, with the Shadybrook Farm Stable, owned by Theo-i dore E. Mueller, will be among the next to get away. They plan to ship out Wednes-i day night. The closing days of the week will find large shipments nightly to the Chicago course, a partial list of additional stables going from here to that track, in-% eluding those of the following: Mrs. E.
