Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, one of Americas lead-L ing owners and breeders, will be the Demo-. cratic candidate for Congress in the first Congressional District comprising the coun-. ties of Nassau, Suffolk, and part of Queens. He will oppose Robert L. Bacon. Announce-L ment that Mr. Whitney had accepted the designation .by long distance telephone from his summer camp in northern New York, was made today in Mineola by Phillip M. Krug, democratic leader in Nassau; Almon Rasquin. democratic leader in Suffolk, and John Theophelj democratic leader in Queens.
