THE BEASEL STAKE WINNER Feature at Jamaica. Falls to Daughter of Sun Spot. Bad Weather Results in Falling Off in Attendance On Tap Triumphs Over Glidelia In the Second. - NEW YORK, N. Y.t Oct. 5. The Beasel, daughter of Sun Spot Antipodes, racing for J. P. "Sammy" Smith, was the winner of the Belgrade Claiming Stakes of ,000, the best offering of the afternoon at Jamaica. Ridden by Jackie Long, -she showed the way to J. H. Louchheims Uncanny, while W. M. Moores Vander Pool was third. C. V. Whitneys Magnifico completed the field. Renaissance and Villon were withdrawals from the race. A cold dreary day, with occasional showers, rendered conditions unpleasant and as a result there was a falling off in attendance from the previous days. The track, despite the early morning rain, was fast and a stiff breeze helped the horses in the run through the stretch. Racing was of a spirited nature and driving finishes predominated. The Belgrade was worth ,440 to the winner. Little time was lost at the barrier and the field left in good alignment. Long sent The Beasel to the front with a rush and opened up a safe lead before placing her under restraint. Vander Pool and Uncanny were racing in that order back of her while Magnifico was in the rear. On the far turn Uncanny moved up when called upon, while. Vander Pool was sent to the outside. Robertson drove Magnifico through on the inside. The Beasel responded when Long shook her up entering the stretch and, although she bore out slightly, as did Uncanny, she had a length advantage at the end. Vander Pool, with top impost, faltered slightly at the finish, while Magnifico, finishing fast on the inside, was going strong. A piled-up field immediately after the start brought about a victory for Dunbar, with Satin Shoes second and Corvine third. When the break was effected Dunbar and Satin Shoes both came over fast and those on the inside of them were eliminated. Debbie was the principal sufferer and when Continued on twenty-fourth page. Adrians On Tap, a receding choice in the calculations and ridden by Robertson, was a clever winner of the second race of the day, a six furlongs dash fashioned for mares. She led home J. J. Robinsons Gli-delia, while Mrs. H. Plattners Fashion Show was third. On Tap breezed to the front, after the break raced Fashion Show into early defeat and at the end held Glidelia safe. The latter improved her position steadily saved much ground, but Pascuma put forth a weak finish. Fashion Show when placed under pressure came again and outlasted the fast-closing French Lass. A good band of two-year-olds started in the fifth race, a dash of five and r half furlongs. H. C. Phipps De Valera, ridden by Mills, proved an easy winner over Good Advice, from the Catawba Stable, while Euryalus, the recent claim of the Tedlu Stable, was third. Two others, Broad Lights and Modern Ace, completed the field.
