BUD CHARLTON, away slowly and always hard ridden, was outrun for half, a mile, but improved his position fast thereafter and won in the final seventy yards. TOWN LIMIT, under restraint for half a mile, drew into the lead with a rush in the final eighth, but could not withstand the winner. POLYP began slowly, lost ground and closed resolutely. ESSENTIAL closed a gap in the stretch. INFINITY showed speed, but quit badly in the last eighth. FORGET NOT began fast, but was done early. PANA FRANKA, at home in the going and showing speed from the start, forced the early pace under mild restraint, met sharp interference from BRIGHT CHESTNUT near the final eighth, but recovered quickly and outlasted BETTINA H. The latter, probably best and away slowly, lost ground throughout and, closing fast, was fast wearing down the winner. PRINTEMPS saved much ground on the turn and, withstanding pressure, closed well. INDIAN MIST raced well. NEXT CALL finished strongly. OSWEGO PRINCESS lacked her usual speed, raced wide and did not threaten. BRIGHT CHESTNUT showed speed, but quit badly after five-eighths. The latter showed spoed, bore out on the first turn and held on well to the final eighth before tiring. PLUTARCH had no mishaps. ED LARK could not get up. GALAHAD lost ground and quit in the stretch.
