j LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES i s Joseph McLennan, newly appointed racing secretary for the approaching winter racing at Hialeah Park, Florida, returned from a visit to Philadelphia, where he conferred with Joseph E. Widener, guiding spirit in Americas most picturesque race course. Horsemen who intend to race at Hialeah Park are advised to file applications at once with race secretary McLennan. Many of Americas leading establishments, including those of C. V. Whitney, Greentree Stable, G. D. Widener and Mrs. John Hay Whitney, will campaign at Hialeah, which promises to be the outstanding winters meeting. Mortimer M. Mahoney of Baltimore, pari-mutuel manager at Hialeah, also attended Sundays meeting in Philadelphia. He states that he has already made up his crew, therefore he will be unable to care for any more men in his department. Jim Fitzsimmons, who handles the Belair Stud and Wheatley Stables horses, has wired track superintendent Woods Dicker-son that he was shipping eight horses from New York. Holly Hughes was an arrival from New York with two steeplechasers. The Hastings Stable of Canada is shipping eight horses here in care of trainer Wright. Horsemen returning from the racing at York, Pa., tate that winners there Saturday were: liick Johnsons Blaze By, A. S. Bowmans Armageddon, C. S. Middletons Gay Widower, Jack Callahans Bobby Fol-som and "Buzz" Everhardts Fluttering in the steeplechase. Johnny Pierce vanned Fluttering back here for the remaining jumping tests of the Maryland State Fairs meeting. One spill occurred Saturday at York, with jockeys L. Dye and E. Hileman being injured. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitneys The Darb, surprise winner of the Richard Johnson Stakes Saturday, will be shipped to Latonia, Ky., Tuesday to try for the big two-year-old stake to be run there Saturday. Hal Price Headleys Technique, bay daughter of Supremus and Cho Cho, will also leave Tuesday for Latonia to match strides with The Darb and other two-year-olds. Jockey Harvey Elston, who has been riding in grand form this fall, leaves Friday evening for Latonia to. ride Technique. Elston will return in time for next Mondays racing.
