BAR HUNTER DEFEATED Monte Parke Rides Whipper Cracker to Latonia Victory. Unsound Bradley Racer Gives Usual Game Performance Platers Dominate Days Program. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 14 Although the racing was given over exclusively to the less fashionable, much interesting sport came out of todays third program of the Latonia Jockey Club meeting and, quite fitting, the Bond Hill Claiming Purse was among the better contests of the clear, blamy afternoon. The Bond Hill Purse witnessed the defeat of E .R. Bradleys Bar Hunter, outstanding favorite of the day, when he was led home by B. Creechs Whipper Cracker, ridden by Monte Parke, and second choice in the betting. The Lebus Bros. Major Lanphier, leading Searington and Reverberate, finished the mile and seventy yards in third place. Whipper Cracker won by a length, after running the distance on a fast track in 1:44, and Bar Hunter defeated Major Lanphier by two lengths. Only a head separated the latter and Searington. The game but infirm Bar Hunter came through with his usual courageous effort in a vain endeavor to make good for his many backers, but the combination of good performance under a nicely judged ride by the young comer, Parke, brought the winner through to a well merited triumph. Parke rated the winner in closest pursuit of Major Lanphiers early pace and, after coming outside the latter on the stretch turn, Whipper Cracker continued too well for the favorite, which finished in resolute fashion, making up considerable ground in the final drive to the wire. In the drive Major Lanphier tired, while Searington, which began very slowly, came with good speed and was going fastest of all in the final stages. DOUBLE FOR PARKE. In the sixth race, which followed the feature, Parke bobbed up with his second winner when he drove Albert Sabaths Flying to victory by a head over Noelwood. Flying ruled favorite, Singing Kid nosed out Depression for third at the end of the mile and seventy yards. Barashkova, one of the choices here, encountered much ill luck after reaching the back stretch and forced back, never had much of a chance thereafter. The Kentucky filly, Oswego Princess .racing for A. B. Gallaher and ridden by O. Laidley, was a popular winner over. a large band of the cheaper juveniles in the first race of the day. She won by a length from Sue Terry at the end of the three-quarters, where Ocean Flight, which was seen in front most of the contest, third, a length and one-half back of Sue Terry and a -head before Palatine. Forced back when in a contending position leaving the back stretch, Score, which drew more than scattered backing, was almost safely eliminated. Although seeking his maiden victory, I Pass drew support worthy of one backed by a more impressive record for the second race, a three-quarters event for older maidens, and performed right up to the confident backing when he went out and decisively defeated Lord Dean, Ledford and the nine others that opposed him. O. Laidley, riding his second winner, had the victor in front throughout and he registered by four lengths. GOLDEN DEEDS BY NOSE. The third race, also for two-year-olds of the lower flight and at three-quarters, closed in a thrilling finish, in which Golden Deeds was the winner by a nose over Prince West-end. Pharahead accounted for third, with little to spare over Marse Chan. Away in motion, Golden Deeds had sufficient speed to make the running throughout and, holding on gamely, came through with just enough to stall off the persistent Prince Westend in a long drive. An accident, the first of the meeting, in which jockeys G. Fowler and D. Froggatte were shaken up and bruised, marked the fourth race won by Votan. Fowler was unseated by Prince Farthing shortly after the start of the three-quarters contest and Booster Twist, ridden by Froggatte, piled into Prince Farthing from" behind. The latter horse took a hard fall.
