SHIPS YEARLINGS TO ENGLAND Belair Stud Youngsters to Race in Great Britain Under Captain Cecil . Boyd-Rochf ort. NEW YORK, N. Y., Oct. 24. When the ship Minnewaska departed from New York she had on board two yearlings bred at the Belair Stud by William Woodward, consigned to Captain Cecil Boyd-Rochfort, Freemason Lodge, Newmarket, England. For the past three years it has been Woodwards practise to ship two or three yearlings to England for racing in that country. Among the first to go were The Scout and Sir Andrew, both winners of important stakes there. Woodward now has two very promising two-year-olds in Capt. Boyd-Rochforts stable, Battling Boy, a son of Sir Gallahad III. and Battle, and Flying Spear II., a son of Sir Gallahad III. and imported Filante. Both of these colts hold classic engagements for 1933 and Flying Spear II. is likely to develop into a three-year-old above the average. The two yearlings that were shipped on the Minnewaska are both sons of imported Sir Gallahad III. One, a bay colt from Bonnie Maginn, has been named Bondsman, the other, a bay brown colt from La Palina, has been named Black Devil. The original Bonnie Maginn was one of the leading stars that coruscated at Weber an 1 Fields some twenty-five or thirty years ago, when Joe and Lew held forth on Sixth avenue. A rather petite and most attractive blonde, Bonnie Maginn was contemporaneous with Marie Cahill, Aimee Angeles, Marie Tempest, Lillian Russell, and last but not least, Frankie Bailey. Bonnie Maginn, the race mare, was foaled in 1924. She is a chestnut daughter of imported War Cloud, from Bonnie Mary by Ultimus, next dam Belgravia, by Ben. Brush. This mare is exceptionally well bred, her second dam Belgravia is the dam of Black Servant. Bonnie Mary was a high class stake winner and Bonnie Maginn was the winner of the Junior Champion Stakes in 1926. La Palina, dam of Black Devil, is a bay mare, foaled in 1924, by imported Ambassador IV., from imported -Parthehis, she by Ajax, from imported Medeah, by Masque, next dam Lygie, by Isinglass. This yearling is a first class individual and likely to develop into a stake winner.
