1 LAT0N1A TURF NOTES 9 W. Z. Martin is shipping Sun Gros and others in his care to Maryland, to where Martin will proceed in a few days. P. A. Nash, accompanied by his good friend, Judge Fardy, stopped off here Sunday for a few hours eh route to Chicago from the formers Shandon Farm, where they spent the week-end. Jack Howard tried out several of his yearlings at Rockwood Farm Sunday. F. P. Letellier is preparing a number of horses for winter racing under the A. J. Stallings colors. The horses are at Douglas Park, from where they will be shipped to New Orleans. Shelby West got in from Louisville with C. E Baumgartners Fredreanna B. and Mrs. G. Mitchells Still Better, i Clyde Van Dusen vanned Charles T. Fishers Spartan Lady to Dixiana Farm, where she will be given a short rest before proceeding to Tampa and Oriental Park with the others of the Van Dusen and Dixiana strings. J. R. Harmon brought the filly Majestien from Montreal and turned her over to M. Simmons to train. Paul Keezster, Dayton, Ky., youth, had his first mount when he rode Cherokees Ridge in the seventh race today. Laffoon and Yeisers crack juvenile, Flying Cadet, among the leading western Kentucky Derby hopes, has been retired for the season. He will spend about ten weeks at his owners White Fence Farm, following which he will be put in training at Churchill Downs by trainer Roscoe Goose. Tom Cameron, H. S. Cuttrish and A. K. Miller were granted agents papers. Clyde Van Dusen is teaching Robert Weeks, a local boy, the fundamentals of riding and plans to give the youngster his first trial in colors during the coming winter. Charles W. Bidwill and Edward Hughes, candidate for secretary of state of Illinois, came down from Chicago for the day. Bid-will has a number of horses racing here.
