1 LAT0MA TURF NOTES 1 $ J. A. Healey is in charge of The Darb and Mad Frump, the C. V. "Whitney stars here for stakes engagements. He named Mad Frump for the Halloween Purse, the attractive feature on Mondays program. In this Mad Frump will receive his final competitive test for the Latonia Championship Stakes, to be run next Saturday. Cathop and Cee Tee are other Championship hopes among the nine named for Mondays race, which is at one mile and seventy yards. Jockeys H. Elston, A. Robertson, C. Kurt-singer and P. Walls, who had mounts in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, are returning East in time to ride Monday. Kurt-singer went to his home in Louisville this evening and will leave early tomorrow for Maryland. Following the close here J. T. Taylor may take R. M. Eastmans Charley O. and Cat-hop to Bowie. Other of the Eastman and Mrs. E. L. Swikard horses, trained by Taylor, will be returned to New Orleans. Albert Sabath, Chicago, patron, stopped off on his way home from New York and was the guest of Col. M. J. Winn. Clyde Van Dusen left for Lexington, where he will inspect the Dixiana yearlings and further plans for the winter campaigning of a number of the Dixiana horses. Jockey O. Laidley was suspended for five days for causing some crowding with Baggage Master shortly after the start of the second race Saturday. F. B. Knootz brought the plater Burlap from Cranwood and turned him over to R. O. Higdon. Orville Whalen of Louisville Ky., under contract to E. L. Snyder, accepted his first engagement of the meeting Saturday afternoon. Earl Pool has decided to again take in the New Orleans racing season, and the veteran jockey will be seen in colors during the Jefferson Park meeting. H. G. Woods arrived from Sportsmans Park with Pollys Folly. S. J. Hazard took over Mrs. J. C. Gillems Jane Packard, which was vanned from Fair-mount Park. The large stable H. H. Battle is training will be shipped from here to Miami. At Hia-leah Park the horses will be rested for about four weeks before being prepared for Hia-leah engagements. George South, the good apprentice with the stable, will ride through the Jefferson Park meeting and report back to the stable in January. Big Beau, Latonia Championship Stakes contender, Pirogue and Three Bees, owned by H. P. Headley, were unloaded here and will campaign here the remainder of the meeting. Jockey L. Whitacre arrived from Canada iand was granted a license. The lad is with the A. B. Steele stable. H. S. Purnell got in from Cleveland with the plater Mutual and turned him over to E. Babcock to train.
