GALA TIME, avoiding interference going to the first turn and, getting into contention, responded gamely to pressure, wore down CRUISING and outlasted RESERVIST, although tiring badly. The latter, prominent throughout, came gamely in the final drive. CRUISING, hard ridden to take command, withstood early contention from UNION, came wide into the stretch and tired near the end. UNION came again after dropping back. SWINHAVEN could not get up. JUDGE JUDY tired. WELCOME GIFT was crowded going to the first turn and lost his rider. . GENERAL COURT displaced UNENCUMBERED midway of the back stretch and, taken into the firmer footing, continued gamely when overtaken. MARSE ROBERT; forced wide throughout, continued gamely. SARADA, quick to get going and kept close up, worked his way through a narrow opening on the far turn and, wearing down WAVE ON in the final eighth, drew out slowly. WAVE ON forced a fast pace, took a short lead in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. GOLDEN WAY, away clearly, went very wide on the first turn, but showed a good performance. POMPONIUS saved ground, but raced wide in the closing half mile. BALIOS, hurried to the front, tired. SUN GROS closed a big gap. SUN ARCHER, taken up early, could not improve his position. RUSH HOUR was caught in the barrier when he propped at the start. ACAUTAW lunged through the barrier repeatedly, but showed early speed.
