LEADING AMERICAN JOCKEYS G. Elston having been halted by injury in his sensational bid for American jockey leadership, H. Mills holds on to the honor by a comparatively safe margin, although he rode only one winner last week. Elston had ridden four winners for the week when he was injured in a fall at Latonia. His disability gives J. Gilbert and S. Coucci a good chance to get back within striking distance of the lead, but neither took advantage of the opening during last week. In the top flight W. D. Wright, with five winners, and B. Hanford, with six, were the most successful riders and they finished the week tied for fifth place. L. Humphries had another good week, with twelve winners.
