■ — ,3 JOCKEY HANFORD KILLED 0 BALTIMORE, Md., May 4.— Jockey "Buddy" Hanford is dead. He had a fatal fall with Apprehensive in the sixth race at Pimlico today. Hanford was 22 years of age and was born in Omaha. He had been riding for about five years and for most of the time was under contract to Ray Pollard. He was to have left for Chicago tonight to ride Trace Call in the Kentucky terby Saturday. When he was picked up, after his fall, Dr. Dalton, the track physician, ordered him to the South Baltimore General Hospital, but at the same time he found no broken bones in a first examination. He said afterwards, when he was informed the lad had died on the way to the hospital that evidently he must have had fatal internal injuries.
