LITTLE CONNELLY, well ridden and under light restraint until the stretch, drew clear and, despittf tiring badly, outlasted SLAPSTICK. The latter, on the inside throughout, forced the early pace, withstood light pressure and also tired, but was gaining on the winner. THISTLE ANN had no mishaps. AGINCOURT tired. OUR HOBBY closed a gap in the first quarter, went wide into the stretch and closed gamely. PHARAMAID rated wide throughout and tired. GERTIE tired. LEFT WING began slowly. FRETFUL had early speed. BOSTONIAN GAL could not keep up. JOHNNY SHAW began fast, but was. taken back, responded gamely after going to the outside in the stretch, but was overmatched. STINGER saved ground throughout and, much used racing AXTEL into defeat, tired. PHARAHEAD, close up from the start, was blocked on the stretch turn and tired. GAMBADO could not get up. SOUTHLAND DUKE had no mishaps. ARYOUTHERE lost ground. DON MANUEL also raced wide. REVERBERATE, well in hand the first five-eighths, bore in . repeatedly and weakened, but was best of the others. HIGH DIVER made a mild bid: BRUSH DOWN began slowly and was never formidable.
