TEXAS BILL PASSES HOUSE AUSTIN, Tex., May 17.— The House of Representatives late this afternoon passed the long pending measure to legalize pari-mutuel betting on horse racing by a vote of 83 to 41. Proponents of the measure are confident that they will be able to muster sufficient strength in the Senate to forward the bill to Mrs. Ferguson, governor, for signature. There are only thirty-one votes in the Senate. «
