JAMAICA TURF NOTES "1 £ — $ The funeral services for James Brown were held Wednesday and were attended by a representative crowd of turfites. Charley Kurtsinger arrived from Pimlico and will remain here for the remainder of the summer. He will ride Head Play in the Wood Memorial. Jockey J. Burke will ride in Canada this summer. G. P. Burke came from Pimlico and stated that jockey Workman would arrive here in the next few days. Jockey H. Bagur arrived from Tanforan. He experienced cyclones and floods driving through Texas and Oklahoma. The Catawba Stables Mr. Khayyam is due here today from Pimlico in charge of Matt Brady. Fritz Weiner shipped to Canada for the summer season. Pete Ackerman, well-known Jamaica sporting man, died at his home on 170th Street, following a lingering illness. Funeral announcement will be made later. Ackerman was well known on the lawn at the different New York tracks. George Arvin shipped six horses to Montreal for racing at that point.
