THE GEN, hustled into a forward position, followed CORDOBA closely and overtook the latter, but had to be shaken up near the end. SOUPCON, pinched back leaving the back stretch, regained his stride and ck-sed gamely. CORDOBA was hard ridden all the way. CALGARY KAY lost ground throughout. CHLO BOY raced into contention midway of the turn. BATTLING KNIGHT lacked early speed. ALLANAH had no mishaps. WISE MONEY showed speed for a quarter. The latter gained in the final three-eighths and continued gamely in the stretch. MORDROM, saving ground and well placed, tired slightly in the final drive. CLEAR KNIGHT showed good speed for five eighths. ETERNAL MAID could not get up. FAIR SUN closed a gap in the late stages. POSTPONEMENT showed earlv speed. PROMETHEUS, close to the leaders, challenged gamely on the turn, but was not good enough. IMA QUEEN worked her way up on the Inside of PROMETHEUS, but tired in the final eighth. PRETTY WISE was racing gamely near the end. MISCHIEFMAKER showed speed on the turn. DUNROCK could not improve his position. STAR PORTER, quick to get going, showed good speed, was kept in the better going and tired fast after being overtaken. REDRESS moved up on the inside entering the stretch, but could not threaten seriously. BLESSED EVENT was done after three-quarters. FLAG VIEW lost ground. Scratched— 81170Cantoria, 108. SPRINGSTEEL, forced to be taken up early, worked his way up around the leaders and closed gamely. CLOTHO went along well and finished gamely. REHOBOTH tired after three quarters.
