1 BOWIE TURF NOTES 1 3 4 Joe Renick, who handled Action today, p plans to ride out the meeting. He can do 103 pounds and is being handled by "Whitey" Dauenhauer. Jesse Bennett of Baltimore, custodian of the jockeys room on all state tracks, was taken sick Thursday morning. He was given first aid by Capt. P. M. Walker, efficient Virginia breeder, owner and trainer. There are less than 500 horses on the grounds, but racing secretary Joseph McLennan looks for more to ship in from the Havre de Grace, Pimlico and Laurel tracks. The coughing epidemic which played havoc i with the thoroughbreds this spring, is one reason for the shortage. Some of the more important stables with horses here are C. V. Whitney, Mrs. John Hay Whitney, Admiral Cary T. Grayson, Ral Parr, Sylvester W. Labrot, Linton Farms, W. W. Vaughan, Edward Riley Bradley, Everglade Stable, J. B. Belk, Brandon Stable, U. S. Wishard, A. L. Aste, Lou Crist, R. Pollard, E. K. Bryson, Lee Evans, P. A. Markey, G. W. Ogle, James V. Stewart, Joe Baker, Mayor Frank Hayes of Waterbury, Conn., and A. G. Weston. It was learned from a reliable source that the Audley Farm of Virginia, before leaving Pimlico for Chicago, informed jockey Bobby Martin to return to his home in Kentucky and get in shape.
