Charley 0., Ladysman, Mr. Khay yam, Fair Rochester, Kerry Patch Probable Starters. HOMEWOOD, HI, May 27. Chicagos first week of Worlds Fair racing, will see renewals of the American Derby and Thomas Curran Memorial Stakes at Washington Park. The former, exclusively for three-year-olds and one of the richest and outstanding features of the Chicago season, will be run Saturday and the Curran Memorial, for juvenile colts and geldings, will be the stake offering on Tuesday, Memorial Day. Many of Americas leading owners will be represented in the two events. The American Derby will attract from the East a number of formidable aspirants for the three-year-old crown and clashing with the best of the West at one mile and one quarter, the race will furnish one of the great turf prizes of the year. The three-year-olds will race for more than 0,000 in prize money and the winner may take a place at the head of the three-year-cld division. Head Play, Mrs. Silas B. Masons winner of the Preakness Stakes and runner-up to Brokers Tip in the Kentucky Derby, heads the Derby field and Western candidates for the race. Others in the Western or home group, include the Strathmore Stables Charley O, which finished third in the Kentucky Derby, and in March triumphed in the Florida Derby; the Le Mar Stock Farms Misguide, which campaigned successfully last year; the Audley Farms Trace Call; J. W. Parrishs Isaiah and L. Jones and Sons Fair Rochester, among others. MR. KHAYYAM COMING. Mr. Khayyam, owned by the Catawba Farms and winner of the Wood Memorial Stakes and Chesapeake Stakes, is the kingpin of the invaders. Other seaboard hopefuls include one or two starters from the W. S. Kilmer stable; L. Rosenbergs Kerry Patch; W. R. Coes Ladysman, and the Wheatley Stables Utopian. The result of the Withers to be run Tuesday, may increase the Eastern contingent. Eligibles for the Curran Memorial, which has ,500 in added money and which will be run over five and one-half furlongs, number 117, and the starters are expected to come from among the following: C. C. Van Meters Mr. James, L. M. Seversons Cash Surrender, A. Pons Saunter, J. Marschs Kashgar, W. S. Kilmers Sun Monk, Sun Tempest, Sun Probate and Sun Abbot; Le Mar Stock Farms Mayco; Greentree Stables Atmosphere, Jack Howards Speedy Skippy, A. B. Gallahers Swiftsport, H. P. Headleys Thomasville, M. Goldblatts Gilbert Elston, Mrs. W. Crumps Rego and Im- pel, Dixianas Full Tilt, Calumet Farms Hermie Roy, Sir Ten and Hadagal, and Audley Farm3 Signal Man and Cloud DOr, and others. The American Derby last year was won by M. L. Schwartz Gusto, while Projectile, racing for W. J. Salmon, accounted for the last Curran Memorial. Other American Derby winners since the race was re-established in 1926 were Boot to Boot, Hydromel, Toro, Windy City, Reveille Boy and Mate, while the Curran, first run in 1929, has been won by Caruso, Schooner and Proteus.
