MARKING TIME AT COLUMBUS Dangman Hamilton and Shepard Announced as Stewards for Meet ¬ ing Opening Saturday May 12 COLUMBUS Ohio May 3 With the slate of officials made up president and general manager H D Shepard of the Beulah Park Jockey Club announced today that all pre ¬ liminaries have been arranged for the nine ¬ teenday spring meeting at Beulah Park to run from May 12 to June 2 This will be the final meeting on a halfmile track as plans are now well under way for extension of the course to one mile work to begin at the ex ¬ piration of the spring meeting meetingA A complete list of the racing officials was announced today William Dangman who has been on the grounds for several weeks returns as presiding steward and will have as his associates in the stand H D Shepard who is also general manager of racing and Will R Hamilton HamiltonThe The placing judges are Chester Stands B H Held J L Watkins and H J Kohl B H Held retains the post of racing secre ¬ tary and his assistants are John L Watkina and WainrightGeorge Sammy Wainright George Palmer returns as starter and E W Stribling as paddock judge The track veterinarian is Dr A B White and the track ShepardPurse superintendent R L Shepard Purse values at Beulah Park have been raised for this meeting and this coupled with the announcement that the track is to be enlarged to a mile a special inducement to owners of good horses has led to the receipt of more than the usual number of applications for stable room More than 200 horses are now on the grounds and a larger number will come from Hamilton Ohio and other tracks now in operation
