BURGOO KING DOMINATES RACE 1932 Derby and Preakness Winner Scores Easy Victory Triumph of Bradley Horse Completes Dou ¬ ble for Jockey Donald Meade at Belmont Park NEW YORK N Y June 1 The Lamp ¬ lighter was offered as the best race of the day and Burgoo King the son of Bubbling Over Minawand which won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes in 1932 proved the easiest kind of a winner He was ridden by D Meade completing a double for that rider The Bradley starter dominated the race all the way and at the end had a big margin over H C Phipps Changeling while The Potter from the Branncastle Stable was third thirdBurgoo Burgoo King raced the distance in 137 and under the weight his effort was a good one There was but a short delay at the post and when the start was effected Mer ritt astride Flaming Mamie took up and eliminated this one from contention contentionMeade Meade sent Burgoo King to the front pressed by Changeling and The Potter while Propagandist had no trouble in leading Flaming Mamie On the far turn there was no change in the running positions but turn ¬ ing for home Meade loosened his restraint and Burgoo King bounded away only to be taken in hand again in the final furlong Changeling saved ground turning for home and was an easy second while The Potter barely managed to outlast Flaming Mamie for the minor portion of the purse purseDue Due to the conflict with the United Hunts there was a decided falling off in attend ¬ ance Racing was of a spirited nature and well supported choices were in the ascend ¬ ency Overhead conditions were cloudy but the track was at its best bestRoyal Royal Link that races for P M Walker and ridden by J OMalley was a driving winner of the first race He showed the way to W N Adrians Wax while Quivira owned by J M Roebling was third thirdEighteen Eighteen started in here and blinkers were added to the equipment of Royal Link and Khelaboo while Quivira was without blinkers The long delay at the post was caused by the unseating of jockey Pascuma from Queen Vic and running away up the chute before she was captured capturedP P S P Randolphs Jesting accounted for his third straight victory and jockey S Coucci his first victory of the afternoon when this combination proved much the best of the others at the end of the mile in the second race The B B Stables Marcasite was second and J J Robinsons Glidelia was third Five started here and Jesting was the choice She receded hovever in the calculations due to the support extended Glidelia but when it came to racing she proved much the best bestA A claim of foul after the finish of the fifth race in which Allen Z led home G D Wideners Cheka was lodged by Hunter against the winner but after brief deliber ¬ ation was not allowed The alleged inter ¬ ference was supposed to have taken place a quarter of a mile from the finish when Allen Z swerved in front of Cheka blocking the latter The Dorwood colt however rallied under severe pressure and in a driving fin ¬ ish led home the Widener starter while Golden Dream from the Middleburg Stable ridden by Coucci was third Westys Duke finished fourth but he was green in racing through the chute chuteThe The final race of the day brought about a spirited finish with the winner undecided until the judges awarded the race to J H Logans Mint de Mie while Damon Runyons Top High was second with Her Gold third The winner worked her way up on the out ¬ side from a slow beginning while Top High finished on the inside Her Gold drew away into a long lead but began tiring through the final furlong and finished on her own courage
