MERRY CHATTER disposed of CANCEL, but could not hold the first two. LORD TOURNAMENT took a short lead in the stretch, then tired. WILROB moved up menacingly near the stretch turn. STRENUOUS had early speed. CANCEL quit badly. HAPPY SURPRISE lacked speed to keep up after being away fast. LAMP BLACK showed speed from the start, was restrained behind FLYING DON, then went to the outside in the stretch and outlasted the latter. FLYING DON drew clear before an eighth, but was unable to withstand the winner. DANCING MACK moved up steadily and held on well. RUNY BEAN was moving up gamely on the inside near the quarter post when she went into a pocket, but finished well when clear. ORAL and LIBERTY OAK tired after showing early soeed. FAKE, under light restraint early, moved up gamely on the outside and, closing fast through the final eighth, overtook the tiring leaders and drew away fast. LITTLE DINAH, hard ridden throughout, was much used racing with HARDATIT and could not cope with the winner. HARDATIT tired trying to keep up with LITTLE DINAH. TEETER TOTTER was moving up steadily on the outside, but appeared to stumble in the stretch. CANDY MAID raced evenly. The others were not factors. SAMBO BROWN, saved for half a mile, moved up fast leaving the back stretch and, taking the lead in the stretch when GALLIC bore out, outlasted OLD JUDGE under hard urging. The latter closed gamely in the final quarter. GALLIC drew into a long lead, but went to the outside on the stretch turn and finished near the outer rail. GABBO tired in the drive. POLLY CEE went prominently placed from the start, out weakened in the final eighth. ESPERANTO, away slowly, moved up on the inside through the stretch, was blocked and his rider was forced to ease back. QUICK STEP went forwardly for the first three-quarters. SARSITA, :n a jam at the first turn, was taken up sharply and was unable to recover.
