ANOTHER FRIEDLEIN VICTORY Talomond Defeats Small but Good GoodBand Band at Stamford Park Belle BelleFille Fille Disappoints Backers NIAGARA FALLS Ont July 27 The silks of S S Friedlein were again victorious in the best offering at Stamford Park when Talomond conquered a small but shifty band of four in the fifth race which was the closest to a feature for the semifinal day of the first summer meeting Decided under claiming conditions and reduced to its small size when Upset Lad was withdrawn at a late moment speculation was active how ¬ ever but the result was a sharp setback for form followers when Belle Fille failed to earn a portion of the purse Landing in sec ¬ ond place beaten by a length was M Keel ings consistent Mrs Foster while Swagger Stick maintained a big gap over the dis ¬ appointing Erindale filly and then followed the only other starter Caerleon CaerleonContrary Contrary to previous performances Belle Fille was sent out to show the way and Dougherty in an endeavor to maintain his position made excessive use of the filly when he rushed her to outfoot Caerleon This was calculated to bring disastrous re ¬ sults and became a certainty on the last turn At this point Talomond favored by racing behind the leaders quickly forged to the front and under Prietos clever rid ¬ ing lasted to achieve her success the first of the season in these parts
