SOPHRON. away well under good handling, took command in the opening eighth, was rated along in the lead and never seriously threatened. SURLY, well placed and saving ground all the way, tired nearing the finish, but outlasted LORD DEAN. The latter, on the outside all the way, made up ground in the stretch run. NIMULE, slow to settle into his best stride, moved up with a rush rounding the turn and, taking command, was taken to the inside and had to be ridden out. DONNATINA, well placed throughout, came fast in the stretch and was overtaking the winner at the finish. LONESOME GLORY forced the early pace, dropped back rounding the turn and passed tiring horses in the stretch. FREE ADVICE made up ground from a slow beginning. ELISE S. quit. SHOWMAN closed a big gap. WATERWAY, well placed throughout, raced wide rounding the turn and tired badly. BARE TIMBER quit in the stretch. SQUEAKY had early speed.
