. w MORTGAGE BILL WINS SPRINGFIELD, 111., June 21— The State senate passed Senate Bill 223, better known as "the mortgage moratorium bill," by a vote of 34 to 5 early Thursday. The bill, sponsored by Senator L. O. Williams, provides that in proceedings for the foreclosure of mortgages upon real estate, or for enforcement of a contract to purchase, the mortgager or owner of the equity of redemption or vendee upon application, after a hearing, upon good cause, may have the proceedings continued for a reasonable period, but no longer than July 1, 1937.
