ROYAL BALLAD moved up fast on the outs.de, wore down THE WAY, drew into a good lead and won with speed in reserve. FESTOON moved up steadily leaving the back stretch and closed with good energy in the drive. KTWO, forwardly placed throughout, was no match for the first two though holding on gamely to the finish. ARMFUL, away slowly, clo?ed a big gap. THE WAY displayed early speed, but was unable to keep up i:i the closing test. BAY GIFT tired. BAV was never prominent. Scratched— 12043 Peace Move, 107. Won driving ; second and third the same. GLITTER GLOW was away well, moved up fast, assumed a slight lead and, shaking off SKOTCHY, had to be placed under punishment to hold MASKED GAL safe. The latter, slow to begin and outpaced for a quarter, came stoutly in the stretch and was catching the winner at every stride at the finish. SKOTCHY displayed good speed, saved all possible ground, showed in front briefly nearing the stretch, but was unable to keep up in the final drive. LADY CAMELOT leaped into the air at the start and was outrun for three-eighth, but closed a big gap. DONFORD tired. Scratched— 12405Wise Will, 112; 12405 High Treason, 107; 11581 Sun Crump, 112. WEE TUNE, prominent from the start and under slight restraint while forcing the pace, wore down NIPANTUCK when reaching the stretch and drew out steadily. NIPANTUCK displayed speed from the start, withstood DOVE OF PEACE and continued gamely. DOVE OF PEACE, well placed and hard ridden throughout, tired in the stretch run. QUEEN VIC raced evenly. GIFTED LADY came with a rush through the stretch. TEETER TOTTER moved up on the outside approaching the stretch, but was unable to enter into serious contention. KISSINBUG dropped back soon after the start. WEST STAR tired. Scratched— 11958 Jessie D. SKY HAVEN, away fast, was taken in hand for three eighths, began to move up steadily thereafter, swung to the outside in the stretch and wore down the leaders in the last eighth. CHATTERFOL, prominently placed early, fought it out with CHAIN and finished gamely. GOLDEN VEIN, taken up after the start, improved his position gradually and, saving ground in the stretch, closed with good energy. CHAIN displayed good speed, but was unable to shake off CHATTERFOL when faltering. ADAMITE was racing nicely in the last three sixteenths. Scratched— 06592 Don Manuel, 110. 3-4 MILE. CANDY MAID, quickest to begin, drew clear in the first quarter mile and, steadied along under snug restraint, increased her lead when reaching the stretch, but had to be hard ridden at the end to stall off CUTIE FACE. The latter, in closest attendance of the pace, dropped back slightly after leaving the back stretch, came willingly in the drive and was overtaking the winner rapidly at the end. CLOUD SWEEPER, restrained in pursuit of the pace, moved up on the inside midway of the turn, was placed under punishment, but was unable to keep up in the closing stages. JOHNS BIRTHDAY was never prominent. GOLDEN QUEST bore out badly in the run through the back stretch. Overweight — Cloud Sweeper, 2 pounds. SIXTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. CATINO, well placed from the start, moved up on the back stretch, raced to the front before reaching the half-mile post, began tiring in the last sixteenth when his rider, watching OUR ROSE on the outside, failed to see OLAMAY coming on the inside, and barely lasted. OLAMAY moved up leaving the back stretch, closed stoutly in the stretch and probably would have been winner in another stride. OUR ROSE took command in the run to the first turn, was rated in front and came willingly under punishment in the stretch. The latter, in close attendance of the pace while restrained, moved up in the stretch, assumed a slight lead, but was unable to withstand the winner. GENERAL LEJEUNE showed speed throughout, wore down LUCK IN for the lead, but was unable to keep up with the leaders. BOOCAP, outrun early, could never gain a prominent position and bore in through the stretch. LUCK IN showed good speed for three-quarters. Scratched— 12410 Mountain Elk. 110.
