POPDLARPLANFORHOMEWOOD Shorter Intervals Between Sape Scheduled for Coming Meeting New Infield Board to Acquaint PublicJltK Condition of Track Receiving Stable Reservations A streamlined meeting with all the rough edges between races ironed out is in prospect for Chicago race fans when the Washington Park Jockey Club opens its thirtyday American Derby session at the south side track on May 24 24It It is the belief of president Walter I Gregory of Washington Park that the de ¬ lays between races are too long and that an eightrace card such as is the custom at Illinois tracks gets the public away from the track too late in the afternoon So he and his associates intend to remedy this situation at the coming meeting meetingWith With the most modern totalizator and betting facilities in existence at Washington Park post times in the past have been cut from every half hour to every twentyfive minutes This year Mr Gregory proposes to shorten this interval even more by some three or four minutes thus effecting a sav ¬ ing of from twentyone minutes to half an hour on the entire program programIt It is his belief that though the new pro ¬ cedure may cause some of the late bettors to be shut out on the first two or three days of the meeting the public will soon become accustomed to only a short interval between events and visit the mutuel win ¬ dows accordingly accordinglyNONE NONE BETTER EQUIPPED EQUIPPEDNo No track is better equipped to handle a large volume of money in short order than is Washington Park and the officials of the Jockey Club believe the new speededup program will catch on at other tracks as well wellPost Post time at the south side track will be 220 as previously but the eight races are to be concluded early enough to permit all patrons to leave the track before 530 and speedy train service will have them in the Loop before 6 p m t tAnother Another innovation to be introduced by Washington Park will be the posting of track conditions on the huge new infield information board erected adjoining the tote board Few of the race public are able to differentiate between the various types of offtracks which include sloppy muddy heavy slow and good For this reason the new board will carry in large type the official track conditions each day the first time any race track has done so soStable Stable reservations and nominations for the seven Washington Park stakes are pour ¬ ing in daily assuring a record meeting
