James Having Winner Under UnderRestraint Restraint at End LOUISVILLE Ky May 4 Dellor which hopes to make good in the Kentucky Derby Saturday where his sire Rolled Stocking failed a decade ago qualified for his en ¬ gagement in the 50000 added event in very impressive fashion at Churchill Downs this afternoon when he won the Trial Purse PurseRunning Running the mile in 138 over a slow course the brown son of Rolled Stocking and Gossip Avenue from the stable of James W Parrish Midway Ky banker and sports ¬ man defeated Reaping Reward by a length as Bernard F owned by I J Collins was six lengths away in third place placeThe The Milky Way Farm colt making his first start since his victory in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes last fall could not hold Dellor through the stretch the latter colt being more superior than his margin of vic ¬ tory indicates as Basil James had him under stout restraint at the windup while Alfred Robertson was riding out the Sickle colt coltDellor Dellor which had finished third to Colum biana and Finance in the Widener Challenge Cup last winter and second to Count Morse in the Ben Ali Handicap at the recent Keeneland meeting was in receipt of eight pounds from Reaping Reward while carry ¬ ing an impost of 110 pounds He was kept going for an additional furlong after the finish of the trial to be timed the mile and oneeighth in 152 Reaping Reward was worked out the full Derby distance of a mile and onequarter in 208 while Bernard F went the distance in 211 Military stable mate of Reaping Reward which missed third place by a head while making up ground rapidly went out the Derby route in 211 211CONFIDENT CONFIDENT FASHION FASHIONJames James rode Dellor in very confident fash ¬ ion bringing him up steadily on the outside to save him in a contending position on the turn Lake View away very fast set a good pace in the going stepping the opening quar ¬ ter in 23 and the half mile in 46 but Reaping Reward displaying more early speed than usual was right after the White Satin colt coltHalf Half way around the turn Lake View tired and Reaping Reward went into command cutting the corner at the stretch turn to save considerable ground James was ready with Dellor and the Parrish colt was right after the Milky Way colt as the field straightened out for the run home homeWith With a furlong to go Dellor wrested the lead from Reaping Reward although having to come up on the outside and he soon drew away into an advantage that James believed was comfortable enough because he did not shake him up upRobertson Robertson roused the Milky Way colt with several lashes of the whip Reaping Reward reached the threequarters in 111 and Del ¬ lor finished out the mile in 138 Bernard F was in fourth position in the early stages silks won a decisive victory in the second over Lady Briar Billies Orphan and six others including the wellbacked Miss Wise which finished seventh In front after about threesixteenths Minster with ¬ stood challenges from the favorite and Bil ¬ lies Orphan and was safe from Lady Briar after she assumed the runnerup position in the final furlong furlongGreenski Greenski became the first favorite to score when he made good in easy fashion in the third race The son of Greenock led all the way to turn back a band of seven other maiden twoyearolds over four and a half furlongs Sunberra took down second hon ¬ ors while Playback was third and Prince Alex fourth Playback was closest to the winners pace nearly to the end but raced wide most of the way and then weakened to lose the place by a length while the run ¬ nerup Sunberra finished a length and a half off the winner winnerTHIRD THIRD FOR HUTTON HUTTONHutton Hutton guided his third winner in four mounts when he brought C N Finchs Pat C home an easy winner of the fourth race over the six and onehalf furlongs distance The eightyearold gelded son of Stimulus and Medina a heavy favorite scored by four lengths over Erins Sun which moved up on the inside through the stretch to beat out Our Sammy and Blazing Torch by narrow margins for second place In addition to being the first horse to score a double at the meeting Pat C gave his owner a training double as Finch previously had saddled Minster
