AURORA TURF NOTES Numerous additions to the racing colony at Aurora are expected within the next few days from Texas where the curtain was rung down on the spring racing season at Arlington SaturdayOscar Downs last Saturday Oscar Schumert Sr who supervises the publication of the program at the majority of the EddyCattarinich tracks is confined to his hotel with a severe cold coldThe The only racer that C S Bancroft has on the grounds for racing this spring is the threeyearold Skeeter which performed consistently during the winter winterFormer Former jockey Maderis Dupuy registered the following horses Leeoran Fourth Bid Onside Amscray and House Afire which he is training for various owners ownersFrank Frank S Ashley who does the public ad ¬ dress announcing on the majority of the Illinois tracks was a visitor at the Fox Val ¬ ley plant plantE E E Russell San Antonio turfman an ¬ nounced the purchase of a number of horses from Garrett Watts prior to his departure from Lexington Among the purchases made here were King Ruler King Relief Mayze an unnamed twoyearold by Vandergrift and five yearlings remained at the Watts farm farmFormer Former jockey D J McAuliffe got in from Texas with the three racers that he is han ¬ dling for the Jay Vee Stable The outfit in ¬ cludes the platers Sleepy Joe Crowned Head and Flat Rock McAuliffe plans to make numerous additions to the stable for racing during the summer summerApprentice Apprentice Henry Hauer under engage ¬ ment to Clarence Davison Illinois turfman made his 1937 debut at the Fox Valley track Tuesday afternoon and the youngsters serv ¬ ices are much in demand Hauer loses his apprentice allowance on May 7 7Trainer Trainer H Jones came in from Texas with Emigrante and Gay Bubble the property of George Keeton and Saxlen Inscription and Rough Creek the property of P L Fuller FullerJockeys Jockeys Frankie Grill Harry Albrecht and apprentices H Mora and W F Ward are among the latest additions to the Fox Valley Jockey colonyJ Club riding colony J H Schlessinger brought in Her Hero and Photography two horses which he is training for J Robilio Memphis sportsman The shipment came from Arlington Downs J A Murphy registered four horses two of which are the property of W Jacobson and H Hough and the others owned by Mrs Murphy The former combines the racers Westy Junior and Lifelike while the others are Racketeer and Dunley Among DunleyAmong the new arrivals are C E Stewart with the platers Bullicoso and Michigan II They came from Texas and brought word that other racers are en route from the Lone Star State StateSidney Sidney Hebert veteran lightweight rider who hails from Cottonport La and was at ¬ tached to the Greentree Stable for a num ¬ ber of years put in his appearance and will remain at the Fox Valley course during the meeting meetingMrs Mrs N L Naylor of Houston Texas ar ¬ rived for an indefinite stay in Aurora Mrs Naylors husband has a small stable of racers here under the supervision of Jack Mc ¬ Auliffe which is headed by the speedy three l yjearold filly Virginia J I
